CHASING THE ELEPHANT INTO THE BUSH by Dr. Arthur Kennedy: Free download!!

CHASING THE ELEPHANT INTO THE BUSH: THE POLITICS OF COMPLACENCY is a widely criticized book by Dr. Arthur Kennedy, the communication director of the Nana Akufo-Addo's 2008 election campaign.

The 2008 Ghana elections is regarded as the closest contested elections ever in Africa. The closeness yet free and peaceful drew the attention of the international community which lead to lauding the country not only a recommended third world democracy, but a world standard.

The elections saw the return of the largest opposition political party, the NDC back into power.

The NDC were the democratic regnant government between 1992-2000. Their paragon, JJ Rawlings, a former dictator, military ruler transformed the country from military rule into admirable democracy.

This book by Dr. Arthur Kennedy is indeed comical, met with amusing quotations which reflects some of the issues that was in the public domain during the electioneering drive. Whether the narrations are true and factual, it is left with the political cycles of the country to examine.

The title of the book itself is comical.

Whiles many criticize the book, I largely applaud Dr. Kennedy's effort in bringing to light some of the obvious reasons that culminated to his party's demise. There's nothing in the book that merits criticism other than éclat from his compeers. The book highly favored Nana Akufo Addo, Former President Kuffour and many others. He merely pointed out why his party lost, and if otherwise was done, likely they could have clung back to the Jubilee House.

I bought the e-copy and decided to make it available for those liking to acquaint themselves with Dr. Kennedy's satire.

My favorite quote so far in the book is the one by Hon. Owusu Agyapong to the corrupted party delegate during the course.

"As luck would have it, right after the rally, he ran into a lady who had taken money from him during the primary to support his campaign and he believed had supported Nana.

As soon as the lady said “hello”, he exploded “You took my money and voted for someone else! God will punish you for that. Mark my words.”

Interestingly amusing - the Ghanaian politician and politics.
